18. Hello! i have seen through bluray.com on the cover of interstellar new bluray release it has atmos. can you confirm this?

    1. Sadly no, it’s a misprint on the cover, it’s still DTS-HD MA. And it’s not much of a problem honestly as it was not mixed in Atmos in theaters.

          1. Exactly, I totally agree with you, no interest in that either. I’m curious how do you feel about Dolby Surround then. I’m always feeling like I’m not respecting the initial movie makers intention when I enable it…

             1. it doesnt change the mix that different, things like rain and choppers are okay but sometimes the soundtrack comes through the ceilingspeakers and thats where i am doubting like you, we will never know the intention unless its presented in its original mix. its a nice feature but its still a gimmick. but in a few days there are a bunch of atmos releases, terminator’s atmos release in theatres was a blast. i’m not sure of the atmos experience at home gonna be equal, but its going to be the bluray of the month for sure! do you have listened to dracula? i’m not sure its worth to buy cause i’m not in for 5 minutes atmos 😉

             2. Couldn’t agree more with your point of view. I have not tested Dracula yet as it’s not released in Canada yet (at least based on Amazon), looks like next week. I would be hesitating as you are, but I don’t own it yet so it makes it a simpler decision. I’m more doubtful about Leon and Fifth Element because I already own those two in DVD/Blu-ray… Looking forward to Terminator too ! And the others coming up this year also !

19. yes! i can download terminator but i wont, this is a keeper on bluray 😉 we are going to have a very nice christmass! i dunno what leon and 5th element can offer for atmos but i guess its going the same for age of adeline. but it would sound offcourse better than the dts hdmaster with 11 channels opposite the 5.1 mix… let me know steve! meanwhile dracula is biting for attention 🙂

       1. thx steve! weird you guys wont get the atmos upgrade cause that movie is better than pixels, pan and san andreas all together =) must be annoying to not get included in all releases…. but uhd releases are coming close and there are pretty promising titles with atmos released! but what we wanna hear if i may speak for the both of us, is some good dts:x blasting! we all wanna hear your thoughts and experiments about this! i have read you gonna try play uhd on full hd equipment trying to benifit the sound… thats genius!

          1. Yeah it’s sad to get a less interesting track when the mix was done for elsewhere. Agreed on UHD coming in with more Atmos. Looking forward to let you know how it will work once everything has been tested here. I just got the HD Fury Integral, now waiting for the UHD Blu-ray player and some discs !

30. I recently purchased a new Onkyo Dolby Atmos receiver the TXNR747 and the Pioneer elite Atmos enabled towers. Love it plays awesome. However I purchased Four Dolby Atmos encoded movies. San Andres, American Sniper, Transformers age of Extinction, As well as Terminator genisys. All of them say Dolby Atmos on the rear cover however only two of them light up the atmos on the receiver. San Andreas and American sniper work perfectly the other two only light up 5.1 Dolby Digital even though I selected Dolby Atmos as the audio output from the disc menu. Got any idea why this would happen?

    1. Mmm… it’s really strange that you get a different situation with different movies.

       What Blu-ray player do you use ? Have you desactivated secondary audio ? Based on the brand I can tell you how it’s called on your player as it changes from brand to brand.

    1. Sadly it’s not the case, a lot of the movies have the object audio track (Atmos / DTS:X) only on the UHD disc.

       1. I’m also hope that some of the Atmos/DTS:X tracks will be released within standart 1080p Blu-Rays. Right now I don’t own 4k player and did not plan to buy one that year, but definatly would buy some films if they were out on bluray with atmos. As I’v understand any film can be published with atmos/dts:x audio tracks. Maybe the case is that studios doesn’t want to rerelease some already published on standart bluray films only because of the difference in one atmos track. Or maybe the case is the better protected UHD format.

48. hi steve! after many weeks with no time for watching a movie i recently bought 10 cloverfield. some review on the internet claimed it to be demo-worthy material so there was no hesitation in the store when i saw the cover. at home i wanted to hear my height channels extreme, so i changed my setup because since first installment i never changed my presets at all. at first i was angry when i heard the mix, no height channels playback… very small activity but nothing really significant. then suddenly the penny dropped … months ago i changed the bitstream! so back in the menu and changed back everything… when i heard the crash in the beginning… vs. that different bitstream… sweet holy mother of god!! this IS demo-material, top notch sound from the crazy people from atmos lab or where ever they programmed it. this must be blood, sweat and tears for some scenes to program, everything is 200% accurate! anyway, i just wanted to say hello and my atmos/dts:x denon receiver is coming soon, i’m upgrading from 7 to 11 channels with 13 channel preout. PARTY 😉

50. This list includes “Gravity – Diamond Luxe Edition”. I have read articles that have said the Atmos soundtrack is so good, it can be used as an Atmos demo. Unfortunately, this disc is very expensive IF you can find it. As of today, it is $79.99 on Amazon and, as usual, the soundtrack is not specified as Atmos. So you have to guess, which makes this an expensive guess.

    I found this edition at a dealer in Canada on eBay. I think the price was around C$30 (a LOT less than Amazon, even including shipping). And the listing specified the Atmos soundtrack. It took longer than normal to arrive (2 weeks), but WOW was it worth it!

    If you want to hear Atmos in all its glory, especially if you have a 7.2.4 setup, you absolutely cannot believe how good this movie sounds. Now I wonder when other studios, producers and sound engineers will utilize the capabilities of Atmos to their fullest like Gravity does. Other movies say they have an Atmos (or DTS:X) soundtrack, but most sound little improved over a 7.1 soundtrack. Gravity is a true treat for the auditory senses.

51. Hi, I own Independence Day: Resurgence on UHD, and it has an Atmos track. I’m in Australia, so un-sure if that makes a difference, but on dolby’s own website, and yours, this isn’t listed as having atmos. I’m just curious.

52. Hi Steve, Game of Thrones season 6 BD you have listed as Dolby Atmos but most sites (those that list it) and here in Australia it’s only Dolby Digital 5.1? Just wondering if it’s Dolby Atmos only in US and Canada?

53. In Sweden on http://WWW.cdon.se it says that Harry Potter 5-8 will be released in 4K UHD Blu-ray the 27 Of march 2017.
    Do you know if Warner will do as Sony and get a new Dolby Atmos mix on it?

    1. Hi Tony, as of now Warner has not remixed catalog titles in Atmos when releasing on UHD Blu-ray. But who knows what they could do for something like Harry Potter, let’s hope for it !

    1. Yeah sadly, Warner does not add Atmos or DTS:X to their catalog titles or most of the new titles that did not have a theatrical Atmos or DTS:X mix. Please note this page and the UHD page confirms the audio format for each if DTS:X or Atmos is present. You could have known from this site before ordering 🙂

55. hi pretty new to atmos/dts-x home theatre and i have a silly question i have a marantz sr7011 av with a 7.2.4 system ( 2 subs and 4 upfiring atmos speakers) all works amazing but for some reason i can never get the rear surround speakers to give audio in either atmos or dts-x unless i set the av at 7.1 etc with the 7.1 bluray etc i assumed that in atmos and or dts-x all speakers should give audio and i cant seem to find the answer anywhere !! thanks

       Do you have an external amplifier for the last 2 channels ? Because the 7011 can amplify only 9 channels, that may explain your issue ?

    1. Remember than you can either use that amp to power the height 2 speakers or the front speakers. This could influence your choice of amp depending on how power hungry are your front speakers.

76. Ip Man 4: The Finale Blu-Ray has Dolby Atmos only in the Cantonese language version of the film. The English version is dts-hd Master Audio.
