Add one more to the DTS:X list. The fifth title to be released with the format will be The Big Short coming from Paramount on March 15th. As the movie did not receive a object based mix in theater (it was only 5.1), it will be a new mix built for Blu-ray.
Please note I updated the list of movies with DTS:X on the site.
offcourse there wasnt one made for the theatres because there are only 6 or so in the u.s. with ‘dts:x’.
Yeah but it could have been a Dolby Atmos mix for instance. But it’s mostly that the movie does not warrant really for an object based mix.
i could not agree more! but in the scenes with a soundtrack its also enjoyable to hear. that is were my focus lays, the overall presentation like The Man From UNCLE wich i enjoyed. and secondly dialogue may not be centered with object based audio, thats the entire idea of it like Gravity. but as always it remains to see what they gonna do with it.
Yep I totally agree with you. I love a good balanced Atmos mix even for non-action movie (Age of Adaline for instance).
yes! atmos has a different vibe than dts:x,i’m so knocked out with The Gallows, production budget almost zero but atmos mix is a pearl. i would love to hear the atmos mix from Adaline but since its only for region A i need a bipolar player. they need to produce region free blurays imo. that new one with emma watson i wanna order but my espagnol is so bad i cant get passed the identity intake form from amazon….
So many good movies await to be taken care and deserve atmos. dts:x is cool but its so loud and hardcore. star wars! had atmos in theatres but as always it remains to see what they gonna do with it. but i take it as it is, its always better than mono lol
I’m curious to hear DTS:X, will do as soon as the firmware is released on my Marantz, looking forward to be able to hear if there is any difference! 🙂
And luckily with Ultra HD Blu-ray coming in Europe, those 4K discs will be region free, so no more problems with that.
You should have been given more audio options. If you don’t have dts x compatability, the movie is hard to watch. The sound is all over the place. (ie…music is too loud, voices not loud enough)
Hi Stanley, you’re experiencing that using the DTS-HD at the core of the DTS:X mix ?
